Under the Freedom of Information Act 1991 (FOI Act) the VSRBSA, as a statutory authority, is obliged to provide access to personal files and to provide copies of information contained in these files to the person concerned. In this context the relevant files are those containing information on initial application for registration as a veterinarian, specialist or veterinary premises.
There is an obligation to provide information in personal files and to provide copies of information contained in these files to the individual concerned on receipt of application for access. The VSRBSA is not obliged to provide access or copies of information relating to the investigation of complaints on normal request. However, it may be prepared to provide some access under certain circumstances and will treat each request on its merits.
Requests for access to documents should be directed to the Executive Officer in writing and accompanied by the applicable application fee. Please note that processing charges may apply.

Structure
The Veterinary Services Regulatory Board of South Australia (the VSRBSA) consists of 9 members appointed by the Governor, of whom 6 must be veterinarians with primary registration, 3 must be persons who are not veterinarians of whom 1 must be a legal practitioner, 1 must have skills, knowledge and experience in accounting, business or finance and 1 must have skills, knowledge and experience that the Minister considers appropriate to enable the member to effectively carry out the functions of the VSRBSA.
Functions
- To administer the Veterinary Services Act 2023, and the Veterinary Services Regulations 2025
- To maintain the registers under the Veterinary Services Act 2023 including the general, specialist and premises registers
- To regulate the provision of veterinary services for money or other consideration in South Australia
Freedom of Information Officer
- The Chair of the Board is the Principal Officer of the VSRBSA under the FOI Act. The Chair of the Board has designated, pursuant to section 4 of the FOI Act, the Executive Officer as an Accredited FOI Officer for the VSRBSA
